Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We are now excavating the tiley fill in the room framed by Walls 5562 at the N and 5463 at the S. This tiley fill virtually stretches from the NW corner of the room to its SE corner with a crescent shape. Just north of cut 5574, we arrive at a clayey floor. We find a marble fragment with an inscription at 270.20E, 1036.50N, 84.65el. It appear to have Greek-]l s k[-Greek. Some parts of our floor are pebbly in a way consistent with those south of wall 5463. We encouner some tiles that go under the floor layer on the east side of the room. We believe that we have reached an elevation at which our tiley soil cuts under our floor surfaces w/o overlying them. We will stop this context here and develop a plan for excavating our clayey floor surfaces. It's possible that we overdug on our east side, reaching below where we see tiles underlying our surface. Along the east edge of a our room, we isolate a pit which cuts into what we have just excavated.
