Description:   The soil color is light reddish grey. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Deposit 5625 is the fill of a small pit north of wall 5463. The fill of the pit is distinguished from the deposit of dumped fill that covered it not so much by the characteristics of the soil matrix as the dection of the cut of the pit, which was perceived after the removal of deposit 5624. The pit fill contained some large tile fragments and produced some pottery and a few fragments of animal bone. No clear indication of the purpose for which the pit was dug can be discerned from the fill deposit, which seems like normal dumped fill.
