The fill of the pit is distinguished from the deposit of dumped fill that covered it not so much by the characteristics of the soil matrix as the dection of the cut of the pit, which was perceived after the removal of deposit 5624. The pit fill contained some large tile fragments and produced some pottery and a few fragments of animal bone.
