Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Deposit 5637 is a clean earth floor in the northeast corner of the courtyard where it meets the eastern extension of wall 5463 (59). This floor was exposed by 1960s excavation (NB ___). The removal of this floor surface is expected to reveal a layer of ash that can be seen in the section of the north scarp of cut. The removal of the floor surface revealed that to the east, the ash deposit forms an arc and east of this is none of the pebbly surface that extends southward from wall 5463. Beyond the ash deposit to the east, the surface revealed is more chunky with inclusions. Immediately to the south a different pebble floor surface is noted after the removal of the earth floor 5637. It is as a higher elevation and appears to be cut and abutted by 5637. It is possible that floor 5637 represents the boton level of excavation for the 1960s, that was well trodden forming an earthen floor. Because the deposit 5637 does not appear to continue under the pebble floor, it seems that the sequence of excavation may be okay.
