Stratum:   55% fine-coarse angular pebbles, roof tile pottery
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark greenish grey. The soil compaction is weakly cemented. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   The dumped deposit 582 is a lens of grey soil deposited against the N face of the pier 573. It appears that the cut for the 19th century boundary wall 272 truncated the deposit, as a similar deposit has been noted on the north side of the trench in alignment with deposit 582. The deposit 582 was obscuring the cobbly orange deposit partially revealed by the excavation of the sub floor lens 581. The removal of the deposit 582 further revealed the orange cobbly deposit. It also revealed a darker tiley deposit through which a small pit was cut and filled with brown dirt.
