Title:   Fill of foundation trench
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1103
Context:   6057
Page:   0
Date:   2009/04/03
Stratum:   5% subrounded small, medium and large pebbles, small cobbles.
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This is a dark loose soil abutting wall 10086 to the east. It doesn't seem like a foundation trench because it is rather wide (ca 35cm), and ends a few centimeters south of the termination of wall 10086. There is also a possiblility that this is the same material as 6004, which ran along a similar line.
Despite these irregularities, the only plausible interpretation now is foundation trench.
When we reached the bottom of this layer in the north, we noticed that the dark soft soil continues north under the hard, lighter soil that 6057 seems to cut into. We are closing this context, and will leave that continuation for a later context.
