| Description: | The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt. | |
| Notes: | Context 6084 is a pit which appears to have been cut to contain a small pitcher. It was located in the courtyard of the Byzantine house just before the threshold of the north room. The vessel appeared during the excavation of context 6074. On first glance, GDRS identified vessel as a pitcher due to the thinning and tapering of the vessel walls, which appeared to be a fragment of the shoulder. We sampled 100% of the contents (c. 10 L) in case any of the original contents were preserved. The soil inside was slightly greyer than the surrounding fill 6074. It appears that the pitcher was cut into 6074 and filled by 6086. The base of the pitcher was intact in the soil, but fell apart when extracted. Coordinates for vessel: 269.08E, 1035.07N, 84.44H | |
