Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is coarse sand.
Notes:   Context 6797 is a stratum of rubble and fill in the SE corner of the area, in the corner between EW wall 5562 and NS wall 6789 (early phase of NS wall 5394). The soil is loose and reddish-brown in color. Excavating 6797 has revealed a stone feature, possibly a wall or two abutting walls. Part of the feature appears to be an E-W wall, similar to EW wall 6764 (this is possibly a Western continuation?). The Western part of the feature might be part of the EW wall or might represent a NS partition wall.
We are also taking a small pass in the SW corner of the area in order to clarify the stones and fill there. This cleaning pass has revealed several more stones, roughly oriented EW -- possibly a further continuation of an EW wall, or possibly wall fall associated with NS wall 5561.
If the stone feature uncovered in the SE corner is a Western continuation of EW wall 6764, then the wall was possibly robbed out in the area between (i.e., where NS wall 5394 ran). We are taking cleaning passes on the NS wall 5561 and just to the West of this wall in order to see if there is any further evidence of an EW wall continuing to the West. The cleaning passes revealed no such continuation.
We will excavate the clayey lump to the North of 6797 next to see if it helps clarify the situation (= context 6801).
