Stratum:   10-15% inclusions: pottery, tile, fine-coarse pebbles (rounded, subrounded), with a few larger stones (10-15 cm).
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the SE. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Context 6868 was opened when our pickman, Thanasis, noticed that the soil under context 6866 was the same as the soil to the northwest/west of context 6866 (under previous contexts 6852 and 6855), the soil is greyish brown with patches of what appears to be ash. On the western face of a large ashlar block (.44 x .45 m) remains of plaster can be seen, perhaps indicating the area west of the block was interior space (if the block is not reused). The relationship between this block and the rought rubble wall (1.58 x .50 m, context 6876), is unclear at this time, as only 14 cm lay between the end of the rubble wall and the block. 6868 was closed upon observing a noticeably greater amount of ash below it, whereupon excavation of 6869 proceeded. 6868 appears to be a fill covering the majority of the room north of the courtyard. It was decided that on Monday (10-5-10), we will clean and photograph the ashlar block and rubble wall (6876) described above.
