Stratum:   50% pebbles, sherds, pieces of charcoal, half backed mud brick
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   We opened 7003 after 6997 revealed that it was cut by 7003 in the area where 7003 ovelied wall 7001 and we had reached the end of that cut in the bottom of 6997. It seems that 7003 predates 6997 and wall 7001 predates them both. 7003 fills the area between trenches 5419 to the north, 5106 to the west and wall 7001 to the east, while overlieing the southern part of wall 7001. The soil is lighter than 6997 and does not have ash. As we got further down we noticed that the soil contains about 10% backed mud brick. The mud brick increase was so gradual we did not change contexts. Towards the bottom a few large pieces of mud brick came up as well. We stopped upon hitting a soil with yellowish streaks.
