Lot:   Lot 2012-029
Stratum:   40% pebbles to cobbles (round, angular, tabular), boulders (round, angular), pottery, bone, tile, glass, chunks of carbon, shell.
Description:   The soil color is dark greenish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   796 has a circular shape inside within pit 647, the southern extent of which contained many boulders/blocks (round, angular, tabular). As we went deeper, there were little pockets of carbon and there was also a fair amount of cooking pot sherds.
Work resumed on May 10, 2012 with 796. although we have gone ca. 30 cm deeper, the boulders continue to be present, as well as a lot of bones.
4 June 2012: Note: There seems to have been a join between a cookpot rim in 803 and one in either 796 or 821. This seems strange, since the two were from different pits (C430 for 803, and C848 for 796 and 821). Either the pottery tags were somehow switched between 803 and 802 (which borders C848), or we have clear evidence that both pits were open simultaneously. - RM
