Description:   Top slope of the context is moderate down to the W. The soil color is light black. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy clay.
Notes:   This context is part of the filling of the robbing trench of the wall 747. We continued digging the filling of this trench, because the other portion of the filling was dated to the early modern period, so this context appears to be one of the latest activity in the area.
Finds in the fill are remarkably few when compared to the other contexts of fill from this cut. Toward the middle of the entire E-W robbing trench, the W end of the context itself, we started coming down on some very large stones that were removed with this fill.
When Thanasis began to uncover some quite interesting finds, including a bone comb (?) and a series of interlocking iron loops, we decided to sieve 1/2 of the context.
833 continued to come down on another rectangular stone, which seems to be part of a wall, maybe its foundation, with E-W orentation. This wall seems to be parallel to the other wall found at the bottom of the filling in the north, 818.
This context has also produced several sculptural fragments and a large coarseware vessel that it should be possible to mend. In order to find any other fragments of this vessel, we began to sieve all.
When 833 was completely removed, it was realized that is came on several levels of large blocks (part of E-W wall that was robbed out?) and a reddish hard/packed layer close to the pier in the west.
