Stratum:   Pottery, tile, bone, pebbles, glass, iron.
Description:   The soil color is light pinkish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   This is the removal of a clayey layer in the N portion of the trench, which is currently sitting above the level of the rest of the trench by 10 to 40 cm. Its surface is compacted from activity during excavation (sitting, walking, placement of buckets) since it has been exposed for some time. Beneath, the soil is loose. This context is bordered to the N by a softer, slightly darker soil which may be the beginning of a slump down to the area N, which was excavated some 50 years ago. There are more roots in this N part along an uneven E-W line - the start of a crack in the slumping northern portion. Excavation of the rpesent context has exposed some large (>10 cm) fragments of tile lying horizontal - other to the W, however, are angled, which Panos says represents a destruction episode.
