Description:   The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   We began excavation of a hard, black soil in the E area of trench. At the beginning of excavation, Thanasis believed that this context extends from a corner where 747 + 540 converge on the N side, and continues W and wraps aroung the large hole created by the removal of 573. Its boundaries on the N side are not yet completely clear and will be explored. Unfortunately, the W side of the area has been dramatically lowered by the huge pit of 844, which cut through this.
Once Thanassis began digging, he began to notice that the soil was exactly the same as that on the other side of wall 540, around wall 807. This wall has not been fully excavated and is approximately 1/4 m N of wall 747. So they do not allign. Team Pink was made aware of this discovery, and we will compare notes and observations once they excavate the area.
The context ended up being slightly different than originally thought. It only continued to the W, forming a narrow rectangle. Speculation suggests that it may be related to the robbing trench and/or foundation trench of 747. The rest of the hard black area previously thought to relate to 869 will be dug as 872.
There was a small, circular indentation iin the middle of the context. Thanasis said that the soil in the indent was softer so he removed it. It does not appear to be significant.

Thanks the excavation of context 930, this context reveals to be part of a fill wich overlaid the foundation wall 945. So we ended up considering 930 and 869 equal. It may be possible that this is the filling of a robbing trench, excavated when wall 945 was robbed out.
