Description:   The soil color is light reddish black. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   This context is a mixed reddish and blackish soil E the Western section of wall 747. Even though we did not found the bottom of 925, the fill which laid on 927, we gave a new context number to this fill. In fact we decided to give arbitrary N boundaries to this context, because it seems to be a wide layer which goes all around the S side of pit 844 (870 cuts 927). As these are the last days of excavation season 2012 and our priority is to understand the relationship between the two sections of wall 747 and between the two robbing trenches (759 and 749) we do not have enough time to dig this all context so we gave ti arbitrary N edges.
After founding a stylus and two iron rings we decided to sieve 50% of this fill.
The excavation of this context was useful to understand the stratigraphy of the area N lime pit 878. Even though we assigned arbitrary edges to 927 because of its large extention, the removal of this blackish soil revealed a reddish soil, which lenses of lime and traces of carbon. This reddish layer seems to continue underneath the blackish soil N robbing trench 759. It is visible in the N section of the foundation cut of Pier 573. It is also visible in the S section of pit 844. The removal of 927 was also useful to clarify that the reddish soil underneath it does not do under the lime pit 878, whereas it is visible its S edge. The stratigraphy visible under the lime pit, revealed thanks the removal of 927 is mainly made of lime, tiles, and stones, some of them preserve traces of work activity. Under this layer a black soil is distinguished and it bounds the S side of the reddish layes.
