| Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. The soil color is light brownish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand. | |
| Notes: | This context was opened to excavate a surface beneath the statumen layer in the NW quadrant. It is comparable to the surfaces dug beneath statumen in other quadrants. A coin was found in context at el. 81,52. It appears to extend across the entirety of the NW quadrant in the scarp along the east boundary, however it will be sectioned due to time constraints. Within a few cm of excavation a different flat soil surface was disovered beneath this upper surface. It has a light reddish brown color as well as black, white, and grey. The surface reveals a cut running N-S perpendicular to wall 44. However not perfectly linear. A coin was excavated in context, el. 81,53. This context revealed a cut of red soil and a pocket of black soil along the eastern boundary. | |
