Stratum:   light yellowish brown firm sandy silt with inclusions of small rocks, ceramic, and marble pieces
Description:   The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We open this context to remove the remaining fill that lies on top of the surface and possible pit uncovered in context 338. The fill is a sandy-silt but with a tiny bit more clay and slightly more yellow than the fill in context 338. During the removal of this layer, Thanasis notes the likelihood of a foundation trench cutting into the "floor"-- the trench seems to contain much the same soil, but in the scarp at the N of context, it is seen to have much more pebble inclusions. The ourtermost border of this possible foundation trench extends c. 70 cm from the wall that forms the E boundary of the area (in some places less -- so, the trench itself may range from 30-40 cm wide, at least as it is currently visible). We close this context when we have scraped to the surface level where preserved. A note that there are some small roots in the W-central area of the context, and one large root in the N-central part, which could all affect the surface preservation.
