Notes:   13/4/16
We begin to remove the brown clayey deposit that occupies the north central part of the room and runs up to the north wall. It runs over the top of the red pebbly deposit (449) in the center of the room. There is a fair amount of carbon in the deposit, including an identifiable olive pit (collected in carbon envelope) -- most appears to be wood charcoal. After approximately 5-10 cm of the deposit is removed, it becomes clear that this deposit covers two cuttings side by side, each of which contains more of the greyish clayey matrix (376, 383). These cuts (bothroi) are cut into the surronding red pebbly matrix (449). Because of this change, we will close this context and excavate the fill of both cuttings as new contexts.
