Stratum:   most of matrix consists of floor; fill is pinkish brown silty sand
Description:   The soil color is light pinkish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   We return now to the floor surface found in Room 4 R (E) during the excavation of context 338. Upon examination, it is determined that while several clear patches of the surface are visible in the S half of this area, the surface does not exist in the N half-- instead it has been churned up within the fill (likely due to bioturbation, as there is one large and a few smaller roots in this area). Thus, we decide to go ahead and remove the floor surface in the S half of this area. The matrix mostly consists of the floor surface and small flat rocks, but the fill within this is pinkish brown silty sand. We keep a sample of the floor surface in our small finds. The possible pit referenced during the excavation of context 338 does not appear to actually be anything other than a slightly discolored patch. We close when the surface is fully removed.
A note that the opening elevation represented a high point of the floor surface, but the elevation varies in different places and measured 81.55 at its lower point.
