Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is moderate. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   Characteristics: 42 is harder than 43, 29 had more tile than 42
This is the possible final leveling course for the mosaic. Largely cobbles of coarse stone packed tightly with soil. The entire room slopes slightly at this layer. A few larger rocks were pulled out. It appears to be similar to the rubble fill to its south (not yet excavated). The context reveals a black soil similar to that revealed by 29. A thin martyr was left along the eastern boundary/Late Roman robbing trench.
This context also appears to be cut by a deposit pit/cut (context 43) to its north. This context was not excavated simultaneously with context 29 because of the clear boundary marked by a high number of the inclusions. This context lay to the east of context 29 and might have been part of the same leveling action for the mosaic as context 29. It thus, maybe, overlays the E-W robbing trench.
