Context:   498
Date:   2016/04/21
Lot:   Lot 2016-028
Stratum:   many rocks from pebbles to medium sized; some large, 20-30 cm long. Many more rocks than in 328 and 339
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark brownish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silt.
Notes:   we decided to dig this and after it the next lens of the east foundation trnch, because at this point once again they were close to level with the other area we were excavating in the SE area of the trench, and we wanted to avoid contamination. We look forward to reaching the bottom of these foundation trenches to gain evidence for the date of the construction of the stoa.
Kostas confirmed that 496 cuts 498, though we were initially unsure.
