Name:   South Stoa, context 511

Context Type:   deposit
Title:   Fill of Northern Part of W Foundation Trench
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1110
Context:   511
Date:   2016/05/06
Lot:   Lot 2016-043
Stratum:   some very large chopped up pieces of vrachos, rocks of widely ranging size
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   this was the first new context we excavated 6/5/16, after removing context 508, which was laid over it. Although the north and south portions of the west foundation trench are divided by broneer's sounding pit (301), they represent the same filling action of the same cut. 506 and 507 are the same cut-- the cut for the foundation trench-- but we have treated them separately because they are not physically connected. We closed 511 when it became too difficult to dig, but the fill of 507 is not yet fully excavated. We will resume later under a new context number once the soil beside it is removed.
