Stratum:   burnt clay, sherds, medium to coarse pebbles of various shapes
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the NW. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   this layer was very compact and hard and came out in chunks like dry fudge. Panos thought that it was the top of a road, based on its compaction, feel, and inclusion of many pebbles. James didn't think that it was hard enough to be a road, and though isntead that it was a floor, similar in compaction to the floors dug in the mosaic room (though he said that those floors had far fewer pebble inclusions).
28/5/2016 we currently interpret this surface as one lens of an EH metaled road.
