Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Pit fill, 5th from top, NE corner of courtyard U1
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1112
Context:   1089
Date:   2017/5/9
Lot:   Lot 2017-010
Stratum:   Pockets of firm clay (light greyish brown). Charcoal (1%), bone (<1%), ceramics (15%), shell (<1%), mortar (<1%), concrete/lime (5%), tile fragments (10%).
Description:   Top slope of the context is moderate down to the S. The soil color is light yellowish grey. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   1089 was opened as a new context due to the presence of clay, ash, and charcoal deposits. Context seemed to continue under the wall on the east side, and not into the west wall into the pit. Two coins discovered - 2017-79, 2017-81 (both from sieve). This context was the final context excavated from pit 1078 (even though the pit continued deeper), as the question asked (does the east wall cut through pit, or was pit cut alongside the wall after its construction) had been answered. It is likely the wall cut through the pit, thus offering a later date for the wall than previously thought.
