Notebook:   1112
Context:   1096
Date:   2017/5/11
Stratum:   Inclusions: lime, ceramics (1%), pebbles (1%), glass
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the SE. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   1096 weas the final floor layer excavated in the north east area of unit 1, north of pit 1078 and against north and east walls. 1096 undercuts modern wall cement spillage on east side and confirms that fill in east wall of pit 1078 is related to the foundation of wall visible on surface (see discussion in notes of 1092, 1093). Excavation not continued in this area, as we had an answer to the question we had asked (was the east wall in the pit evidence of an earlier wall course, or a foundation related to the upper wall visible on ground surface). Layer below 1096 visible in west wall of pit 1078. Ceramics date this layer to the 13th c. with no precise date, but by comparing the opening and closing elevations of 1096 with other floor layers elsewhere in the unit, the date can be further narrowed down to the late 13th c. (see context 1106).
