Description:		Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:		Context 149 is a small unit of tile debris (nerk) overlying the surface of Room 8, Unit II, revealed in Context 140. It was fairly contained in a small area concentrated in the SE corner of the room, adjacent to Wall 18 (NB 845) (now Structure Context 155) on the E and Wall 16 (NB 845) (now Structure Context 156) on the S. Tile fragments were highly concentrated here, and the unit contained few other finds or inclusions. After revealing the floor beneath this tle debris, we closed Context 149. The interface with the more whitish, clayey surface beneath was clear, and we associate this deposit with the delapidation of the structure. Later Notes (29/4/14): We now suspect that this context was dug out of sequence and was a part of the tile debris generally overlying the "Frankish floor" excavated in Context 140 (see NB 877 B91-93, 114, 123, and 149). This debris was dated by the original excavators to the end of the 13th c., though the associated floor, our Context 140, was dated by pottery to the 14th c.
