Title:   Cut of lower grave E of Wall 58 (Grave 2014-05)
Notebook:   1108
Context:   165
Date:   2014/04/24
Description:   The context shape in plan is sub-rectangular. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are concave. Truncation: 128 (cut of Grave 2014-01).
Notes:   Context 165 is the cut of Grave 2014-05. The fill of the grave is Context 130. The skeleton is Context 54. The grave is oriented roughly N-S, directly adjacent to Wall Context 58 in Unit II Room 6. It is the burial of an infant, perhaps between 9 and 12 months old.
Grave 2014-05 was truncated by the later burial of a smaller infant in Grave 2014-01 (see Contexts 130 and 54). The original top of Cut Context 165 was truncated by this later burial at the E and is preserved only at the N. Originally we thought that the top of the cut was also preserved at the S, but we now (29/4/2014) think it may have been destroyed in the partial excavation of Floor 5 of the previous excavations in this area (NB 864 B56, plan p. 90), into which this grave seems to have been cut.
Later notes (01.05.14): It was not possible to lift the entire skeleton of this grave before the end of the session (April 2014), therefore the bottom of the cut has not been revealed.
