Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy clay.
Notes:   Context 181 was a pass through dark soil in the E central part of Room 8, Unit II. It was initially opened in order to find the extent of a red, stony deposit (Context 183) that we believe is truncating the possible foundation trench of Wall Context 155 excavated in Context 176. Around 105 liters were excavated prior to closing the context when it became clear that we were digging out of sequence. This context therefore does not represent the full deposit, which seemed to continue both to the N and W, as well as deeper. This fill seems to go under the lens of soil excavated in Context 184. It is cut by Context 183 (the red stony deposit) and the foundation trench (Context 176), as well as perhaps by the softer strip of soil along the wall to the N, which does not seem to be part of the foundation trench.
