Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes: | We excavated a large lens of the road to the north part of our area, which was characterized by pebbles, cobbles, and tiles, mixed with sandy silt. This road was fully revealed by the removal of the deposits 19, 30, 33, and 36. It is a large, flat road that has a uniform consistency. The full extent of the road on all sides is unknown. To the north is cut by a modern water pipe, to the east it is bounded by the scrap for the foundation trench 65 of wall 51 and by Unit 2/Room A beyond it. The most abundant inclusions were stones and tiles. The road is cut by drain 332 and its capstones 232, which run in south-easterly direction towards the courtyard between Unit 1 and Unit 2. It is noteworthy that the road has the same orientation as and is in alignment with the road between the two shops south of this area. In the NE part of the road we found 2 coins (2014-77 and 2014-78). We also found a coin at the SW part of the road (2014-76) and two coins were collected from the dry sieve (2014-79, 2014-82). Unfortunately, our pickman overdug the layer and the surface of road was removed together with part of the substratum strosis. We decided to remove the rest of the substratum strosis to the south with a new context number. The removal of deposit 193 revealed another surface of road. The newly revealed road on the west side has preserved the west edge of this road. Coins 2014-76: 96.28/1069.01/86.09 2014-77: 98.16/1069.60/86.07 2014-78: 98.01/1069.80/86.07 > Later note (05-06-2014): This is not a coin: it is half of a lead disk, probably a Byzantine lead seal (MF-2014-65). 2014-79: from the dry sieve 2014-82: from the dry sieve
