Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 306
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Destruction debris over floor
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   306
Date:   2014/05/15
Stratum:   Hue of soil ranges from yellowish to blackish in areas; inclusions of lots of tiles, stones (sub-rounded cobbles, angular square boulders), some pottery, and little bone/shell (approximately 25%)
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is very dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   We then begin to remove the layer of destruction debris comprised of tiles and stones that sits on the floor surface. We begin removing this debris with small picks from the area of the already exposied floor, around N1077.0 E111.6. We are taking care to remove only this layer and take care to notice any intervening deposits lying between it and the floor surface. The floor itself is rather clean. This might not actually be a tile fall destruction and may in fact be a dumped fill due to the varying sizes of tile fragments, the presence of inclusions of stones in the layer, the cleanliness of the floor, and the lack of preserved objects in the corners. There does appear to be traces of burning on the floor itself, however, as this is visible in the orange patches in the clay surface.
One clipped coin was found at N1077.14 E111.28 H85.81 (2014-125), and two more clipped coins were found in the dry sieve (2014-126, 2014-127). A bronze buckle was also found in the dry sieve. Some pottery, bone, iron and glass was collected in this context.
