Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish grey. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We are beginning to remove some of the hard-packed fill covering the W third of the corridor. This fill appears to us to have been functioning as a working surface, similar to a floor, but probably outside. A knife, Context 319, was found lyng flat on this surface (now Context 372), and five pits appear to have been cut into it. We are exploring it now in an effort to better understand the relationship of this surface to the fill removed as Context 266, lying to the E along the N wall of the Corridor, and the hard-packed surface revealed in the excavation of fill contexts 285, 343, 353, and 351. As we dig, we are coming down on a slightly softer surface, very inclusion rich, which appears to be comprised of a darker, blacker matrix to the S, while at the N, we have come down on what appears to be a piece of hard, cement like floor or road, that terminates horizontally at the threshold/robbed out wall of Room 7. We are closing this context in order to better understand the relationships between the different matrices coming up.
