Notebook:   1108
Context:   488
Date:   2014/06/10
Stratum:   40% inclusions: stones, ceramic sherds, bone, small amount of glass, metal
Description:   The soil color is light brownish grey. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   488 is the hard-packed, inclusion-rich fill that we dug in order to bring this area down to the level of the pit (and therefore to get to the foundation pit of wall 156) as ewll as try to understand the relationship between the surfaces that abut wall 20, but are cut by later trenches. It appears to be coming down onto another inclusion-rich fill (although not as prolific).
Into this fill lens, as well as the one beneath it (503) is cut a child's burial (grave 2014 08). This this burial is then covered with another trampled dumping fill (deposit 437) demonstrates a willingness on the part of the corridor's users to continue depositing trash even in areas where burials had been cut (e.g. this child's grave). Deposition of level walking surfaces at the west end of this corridor also suggests continued access to and use of Room 7 (Unit 2) from the corridor.
Animal bones, 0.9 kg, thrown.
