Notes:   This wall was previously Wall 1 (NB 839) and functions as the west wall of Unit 2 Room A. It was revealed in 1995 by B. 37 (NB 839, pg 101-2). On the east side, where part of the wall's upper most course is missinw as another accumulation of soil removed as B. 38 (NB 839, pg 102). The wall has been robbed out to the north and the west by modern activity. Thus the wall is only about 1.70m in length. It is possible that it is the same as a N-S wall further to the north one the same orientation. It is also possible that this wall is for a basement since it appears to have been built by cutting very deeply through road surface in order to construct it.
While removing two lenses of fill west of the wall within Cut 65, the west face of the wall has been more fully revealed. This face is much better preserved than its east face.
14/4/14:
The bottom of the wall is difficult to determine. It appears that it might be sitting on an earlier structure as there is a lower course of stones that are projecting further south and appear to be slightly different in material and size (They are moe roughly shaped and larger.)
Later notes (21/4/14) SMK:
The wall is truncated to the north and the south by two previously excavated modern pits. It is possible this wall portion is a continuation of a N-S wall further to the north. The wall also appears to have a relationship with the vaulted chamber. Their chronological relationship is unclear at this time, but their location and orientation suggest they were roughly contemporary. It is also possible that the wall was partially robbed out to build the vaulted chamber if the small amount of stones south of the chamber are a continuation of Wall 51.
