Title:   Mottled fill in western half of trench
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1109
Context:   622
Date:   2015/04/24
Lot:   Lot 2015-028
Stratum:   Pottery, bone, tile, brick, charcoal
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is weakly cemented. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   The workmen finished the third pass on the mottled fill, but it will need at least a fourth. Guy want to make it a separate context again, even though it seems that these are arbitrary passes on the same deep fill. The first pass is context 613, the second/third context 619, this fourth 622. We have also inserted an artificial string line in the northwestern corner along 1078 N to mark off the rest of Unit 2, Room 7, from the trench. This will make my job a bit easier, because it has always been a bit unclear to me how far north around the stub wall Guy wants me to go. After talking it over with him today, it seems best to demarcate the area clearly, just before the level of the corridor dives down (where an 'amorphous pit' was dug in 2014).
A lot of tile appeared at the west (near and around the stub wall) near the end of this pass, which seems to have removed most (if not all) of the mottled fill. We will have to wait until Monday, until the freshly uncovered soil dries, in order to see if all of it has been removed.
