Notes:   This altar base was uncovered in the 1990 filed season (NB835, B72) and was visible at the start of this excavation season. Removal of the cement floor and subfloor (contexts 910-913) revealed the cut (949) for the foundation of the altar base. During the course of excavation two cuts were found associated with the atlar base foundation - cut 949 and 951. Cut 951 was within cut 949 and may represent a miscut when the altar was being constructed, as it would have made the foundation hole too narrow for the base. This base foundation was cut into the level o n which the threshold structure (924) was built. It is possible they were built around the same time.
The baes has three carved out areas on the upper surface. The two on the north and south sides are rectangular and the one in the middle is cirucular.
