Context:   985

Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. The context shape in plan is sub-rectangular. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are vertical. The break at the base of the cut is sharp. The base of the cut is flat. Truncation: possibly truncated by 983; cut by 1990 pit on west side.
Notes:   This is a cut for a very mixed fill deposit in the middle of the south aisle. The cut is truncated in its west edge by a pit/grave dug in 1990. The eastern edge was at a lower elevation than the north and ewst edges. The south edge is Wall 929. The esatern side seemed to be visible at a higher elevation when we were excavating the context above it (Context 957). However, the cut was unclear as it may have been our eys creating a false line between the west edge of Pier 928 and Wall 929. Thus, the cut edge likely started at a higher elevation. The deposit defined by this cut, cut into what looks like a tile subfloor on the western side.
