Notes: | Study Collection. Data Entry Funded by the Kress Foundation. Negative 81-51-30/31/32 CONS. 01-29 Fine condition The Providentia type with Camp gate (towers) was invented by Sicinius in Heraclea mint c. 316 AD (See RIC VII, p. 49, #5), but variety with two towers is no earlier than c. 324. A similar Crispus-Constantine "hybrid" is listed in Cohen VII, p. 351, #113, and a Constantine PROVIDENTIAE CAESS piece in ANS Annual Report 1979, p. 16. Coin portraits of Crispus with diadem of pearls seem to be rare (one example in LRBC, p. 22, #869), and portraits with head left possibly rarer (haven't to date seen any, ref.:7-81) | |
