Description:   Mortar with flat base, body rising from stem then flaring out at ca. 45 degree angle to down-turned rim with convex profile and flattened lip. Two horitzontal spool handles on rim with flaring ends and 3 heavy beads on each. Inclusions on floor nearly to lip, exterior thinly lipped. Vessel with flat foot, lip overhangs slightly. Astragal-like handles. Similar to C-1931-447 (Roebuck 1951, Corinth 14, cat. 65) and C-1931-448 (Roebuck 1951, Corinth 14, cat. 66). For type see Hesperia 6, 1937, p. 299, nos. 193 and 194.
Material:   Coarse tan clay with moderate amount of brown/red inclusions
Munsell Color:   Slightly yellower than 7.5YR 7/6
Condition:   Complete profile. Many joining frgts., preserving complete profile. RIP. Missing center floor.
