Description:   Pyxis lid with very low sloping profile rising from rim toward knob. Slight flange on underside.
Decoration:   Underside reserved. Exterior: outer edge plain except for partial overlap of outermost border on top; 2 rows of dots on top divided by single line, framed by a line on either side; animal frieze with separate ground line, l. to r., most of a goose to r.; crouching sphinx to l. with extremely long body. Incised details, 4-spoked wheel under sphinx and long thin filling ornament.
Material:   Fine buff clay.

Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., ca/ 1/4 circumference rim and part of top; glaze worn.
