Description:   ESB krater Atlante form 38 with round bottom, deep hemispherical body flares outwards near rim, flange/carination leading to convex vertical rim with inward bevel on lip. Pedestal foot C-1936-1191 probably from same vessel.
Decoration:   Red slip (2.5YR 4/8) on interior and exterior. Exterior: disk on bottom (where foot attaches). Thick groove flanked by two narrower grooves halway up wall. Two grooves under and one above flange/carination. Two grooves above and one groove below band of rouletting (5 rows) on convex wall of rim. Rouletting on lip. Interior: 3 deep grooves around center of floor (2 wide, one narrow). Groove halway up wall (corresponds to exterior grooves). Groove below deep offset marking carination. Two grooves above offset, two grooves below rim.
Material:   Fine light red micaceous fabric.
Munsell Color:   2.5YR 6/6 (light red)
Condition:   Fragment. Approx. 30 joining frgts., preserving almost complete profile except pedestal foot, 1/4 rim, 3/4 wall, entire bottom. Pieces missing throughout. Slip fairly well-preserved on interior and exterior. Interior and exterior heavily scratched.
