Title:   STAMNOS WITH INCISED DECORATION

Description:   Stamnos with ovoid body and high collar rim. Maximum diameter at base of shoulder. Slight offset at base of rim. Upper edge of rim outward thickened and with a groove on upper surface. 2 twisted horizontal handles attached to shoulder at a slightly uptilted angle. (Molded base missing.)
Decoration:   A groove above and below the handles attachments defines a zone in which 2 wavy lines are incised. Splashes of light red slip on body below grooves may be accidental.
Material:   Relatively soft pink fabric with moderate number of small to medium-sized round/subrounded red inclusions and some voids (where same inclusions have fallen out?) Body above handles fired reddish yellow probably from stacking in the kiln.
Munsell Color:   7.5YR 7/4 upper body: 5YR 7/6
Condition:   Fragment. Many joining frgts., preserving about half including part of lower body to half of rim and parts of both handles. RIP for support. Non-joining frgts., left in lot.
