Title:   YELLOW-GLAZED FRANKISH JUG

Description:   Jug with flat string-cut base from which body contracts, then flaring to ovoid profile with max. diam. below median, and curving up to neck. Vertical handle, oval in section, attached to max. diam. and neck.
Decoration:   Thick white slip on 2/3 of exterior body except base and for a H. 0.042 up from base, dripping down to base. Thick greenish yellow glaze on upper body and partially on handle, with smudges and dripping on lower body. Shallow incised grooves on neck, base, double on mid body.
Material:   Fine, hard, pink clay. 3% white (0.5-1.5 mm) subrounded, spherical. Few, irregularly shaped voids. Smooth break.
Munsell Color:   Close to 7.5YR 7/4 (pink)
Condition:   Fragment. Numerous joining frgts preserve complete base, 70% body and handle.
