Description:   Lamp with leaf-shaped flat bottom, slightly flaring body, broad flat rim, square disk with central fill hole, broad channel with air hole to long nozzle, large wick hole, solid lug handle, top and bottom slightly askew. Lamp crudely made.
Decoration:   Bottom: 2 framing grooves; rim: 2 rows of dotted circles at base of handle; crude herringbone on sides, ending in 3 dotted circles; coarsely incised band framing center of disk which is plain. Handle: 2 grooves on top, becoming 3 broad grooves on botom half.
Writing:   inscribed. Faintly inscribed signature on bottom, Greek:XIO/NH/S
Material:   Slightly sandy orange clay with frequent fine white, red-black and sparkling inclusions.
Munsell Color:   Ca. 7.5YR 5.5/5
Condition:   Complete or intact. Intact except for flake from handle back; cracking along mould joint. Burning on nozzle.
