Description:   Mouldmade terracotta figurine of old man, possibly grotesque, holding right hand to right eye. Figure apparently bald. Head large with wrinkled forehead, heavy and furrowed brow. Left eye closed with heavy upper and lower lids. Right eye covered by right hand, with palm directly over eye. Sinews of back of right hand visible. Nose long and flat. High and prominent cheekbones with sunken cheeks. Mouth large and pouty with thick lower lip. Ears large and fleshy. Wrinkles indicated on cheeks. Neck almost non-existent. Left arm hangs by side with thin upper arm. Upper and lower portions of right arm very thin, with prominent distal end of ulna. Torso emaciated, with ribs and sternum articulated. Figurine possibly covered in white paint or white slip. Forehead with brown paint near right hand. Figurine from two-piece mould. Back modelled with protruding spinal column and shoulder blades or scapulae. Two cervical vertebrae separately indicated by slight bumps, with slight curve of spine near skull. Figurine hollow. Crease of mould halves visible at top of left shoulder.
Decoration:   White paint or white slip on right arm, face. Brown paint on forehead.
Material:   Fine very pale brown clay with micaceous inclusions, frequent very small rounded spherical white and dark inclusions.
Munsell Color:   10YR 7/4 (very pale brown)
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., preserving head, right arm, upper half of torso, and upper left arm. Traces of white paint or white slip in places. Traces of brown paint on forehead.
