Decoration: | Dionysos maenad and satyr type. on left side three standing figures are portrayed in relief. On the left a maenad turns to the right and draws the face if the central figure toward her own. The nude, frontally-posed central figure, dionysos, is flanked on the right side by a draped satyr who steps out from behind him and turns to the left. Related to tarentine alter by form and subject. (Melanges D'Archeologie et D'Histoire 1929, 68-69, Pl II-1) and subject parallels on Megarian bowls (AJA 1941, PL. I A-1). | |
