Description: | Handmade terracotta figurine of grotesque female figure. Long hair indicated by red paint extends onto chest above two enormous protruding breasts that taper and end in applied pellets for nipples. Thick arms project outwards. Abdomen slightly distended, with incised lines dividing it into sections and a large applied pellet for navel. Back rough and largely unmodelled except for prominent buttocks. Oval hole (max. diam. 0.009m) pierced vertically through figurine. This figurine is unique at Corinth and may have een intended either for use in magic or as a joke, according to Corinth 12. | |
