Description: | Figurine of draped, standing, male, comic actor. Herakles. Figure stands with head turned slightly to left. Bent left arm juts out with hand resting just above hip, supporting object (quiver?) cradled under arm. Relaxed right arm extends straight down along side holding knotted club extending to base. Straight left leg supports weight, right leg relaxed and somewhat bent with toes pointed slightly outwards. Figure wears lionskin hood with visible teeth and snout. Tuft of curly hair visible from under hood near right temple. Furrowed forehead with prominent, arched brows, bulging eyes with punctured pupils, short, wide nose, wide mouth. Short, wide, curly, rounded beard. Distended belly with unmodelled, pared back. Wears short chiton under long lion skin, worn like himation, and extends down to ankles. Looped phallus. Tights indicated by incision at ankles. Small oval-shaped base. Solid. Mouldmade with evidence of tooling and handworking, especially on back. Similar to MF-1527. Mask J (MMC 3rd ed.). | |
