Description: | Terracotta mouldmade hollow figurine of reclining male banqueter. Reclines on lt. side with lt arm bent on a pillow, rt. arm rests on rt. side. Subtle musculature and small round belly button depression. A himation drapes over lt. forearm and two gathered folds below hips. Second pillow rests atop couch. Handmade back and portions of lt. side below pillow. Additional hand moulding at rt. shoulder attaching flattened back. Similar to MF-4030, MF-1895, MF-13442 (Corinth XVIII.4, p. 107 no. C220 pl. 18) and MF-1896 (Corinth XII, p.48 no.302-303 pl.25). | |
Material: | Fine reddish yellow clay fired light gray at core with frequent tabular rounded white inclusions, rare very large spherical angular yellow, few small spherical rounded red, and rare fine sparkling inclusions and few small to large angular rounded voids | |
