Description:   Standing over life-size statue of Augustus; weight on r. leg, l. leg bent and set slightly forward; r. upper arm held close to body, r. forearm separately dowelled and originally extended forward, probably to hold patara; l. arm bent at elbow and extended (wrist and hand separate); head turned slightly to proper r. Wears tunic with seam visible on r. upper arm; long toga draped in early Augustan manner with umbo; edges of toga hang over r. side and in front of l. shoulder; long vertical folds hang from l. arm; lower edge of garment reaches to mid-calf; wears calf-height boots (visible at l. ankle); hair rendered in Augustan style (like Prima Porta portrait) with central comma-shaped lock curling to proper r., 2 locks to proper r. curling inward, and locks to proper l. curling outward; traces of red paint on hair; wide face with prominent cheek bones, chin; broad flat forehead; slight vertical crease in center of brow; sharp horizontal eyebrows; large eyes with sharply defined upper lids; long straight nose; straight mouth with full lips; large protruding ears; long neck; carving of facial planes shows sharp, angular precision; back roughly finished with flat and claw chisel; rectangular hole at back of neck, slightly off-center, for fixing statue in position in niche or against a wall; rasp marks visible on much of surface; drill work in drapery.
Material:   Fine-crystalled white marble with micaceous veining.
Condition:   Missing parts. Complete figure from top head to ankles. Lacks r. forearm and l. hand (worked separately), r. ankle and both feet.
