| Description: | The piece represents a male god standing in 3/4 view to right, wearing a chlamys fastened by round button on his right shoulder. From the buttom the chlamys curves across the chest and continues diagonally behind the figure to the left. A vertical section which probably fell from the left arm is preserved on right. The heavy, vertical lines of these folds emphasize the straight left leg. The figure's right arm was held diagonally across the body, but is broken at the elbow, where it seems to have been bent slightly. The torso is well carved, smooth ratehr than muscular, probably because the right arm would have covered a good bit of the chest. The bulge over the iliac crest and outward curve of the abdomen are gently modelled. The figure seems to stand perfectly still and presents the quiet air of a divinity rather than a figure active in battle. | |
