The nose is broken off; the eyes, very deep set and with pupils and iris incised, look up and outward. Beard, mustache and eyebrows are very light; very slightly raised masses with the locks engraved by shallow strokes; the beard so light as not to change the profile of the chin at all. The hair in contrast, is treated in heavy curling locks, drilled in front and to the side, chiseled on the top, which shows weather wear. ; Good work, certainly a Roman portrait, but not obviously of any emperor, but perhaps of a kosmetes.; Of Antonine or later date.; Pentelic marble.; Cf. Back of the head and the bun were left unfinished; the ears, especially the right one, are only blocked out, and there are other indications of incompleteness. ; The head represents a plump round-faced woman, with her hair parted in the middle, rolled across the forehead, and gathered in a bun at the back of the neck.; The work is of the crudest; the hair indicated by very shallow grooves. Nose and chin broken; the mouth much battered; elsewhere considerably chipped.; The head represents a bearded man, his face thin, with deep lines from nostrils to the corners of the mouth. His forehead is lined horizontally. The mustache is treated quite distinctly from the beard; the latter grows up in a peak to lower lip. He wears a round fillet tied at the back. Above the fillet is a smooth band with a concave profile.; Coarse work. The hair above the fillet is very summarily indicated. At the point of the head there seems to be an artist's point.
